Help a child achieve their dreams by donating to Makomborero

What you can do

You can support Makomborero in the following ways:

There are always opportunities for people to volunteer their time to Makomborero. For example, we funded Makomborero A-level Revision School 2007 in Zimbabwe (run by Mark) and had volunteer teachers from the UK and Zimbabwe. Teachers also volunteered for the revision school in August 2008, and again in August 2010 out at Wanganui, Turf. In August 2011 we had 6 volunteers from the UK participate in revision schools in local townships and at our boarding house.

Here are some of the areas that volunteers could serve in:

  • Volunteer teaching at our annual revision schools in August every year.
  • One on one tuition with our students.
  • Visiting rural schools and helping improve their facilities.
  • Building relationships with our students.
  • Maintenance on the Boarding house.
  • Fundraising for us!

For further details please email us and we would love to help you find an area you could volunteer in. Volunteers are such an important part of the work of Makomborero and all that they hope to achieve.

If you fancy doing something crazy to raise money for Makomborero, we would love to hear from you. This year we have had some wonderful people do some amazing things to boost our profile and raise money.

Inspired by Peter, one of our students who used to walk 15 miles a day each way to school, Stuart and some of his year 12 and 13 students at Sheffield High School walk 6 miles to school, through woodland, open countryside and parks on the outskirts of Sheffield, before completing a normal school day. They have run this fundraising event for 3 years in a row now and manage to raise a significant amount of money for Makomborero.

A team from Acturis Ltd, as well as a few Makomborero Trustees and supporters have taken part in the Asics British 10K London Run. This is becoming an annual event and if you are interested in taking part please contact us!!

Benenden Girls have continued to fundraise for Makomborero in various creative ways and they will be holding a homemade market day in aid of Makomborero in March.

We also continue to fundraise as a trust in Zimbabwe, asking local businesses to sponsor students.

Makomborero has a Virgin Money Giving page, creating a Virgin Money Giving page linked to Makomborero is free and easy! What would you do for Makomborero?

  • A marathon or shorter run?
  • Eat 50 hamburgers?
  • Organise a pub quiz?

So, if there is anything crazy that you would you do for Makomborero then please contact us.

Thank you for your support for Makomborero!
