Makomborero Zimbabwe was founded in 2011 and has been growing ever since! Our dream is to make education accessible to young people who come from disadvantaged backgrounds and one of our aims is to keep improving in what we do. With that in mind, we are so excited to be introducing a new post and a new member of staff. We now have a Student Relations Officer, Farai aka ‘Mr Mahz’. Let’s get to know him!
Tell us a little bit about yourself
My name is Farai. I am the eldest of four. I have two sisters and a brother.
What do you enjoy doing the most?
I enjoy through experiments and most things intellectual on the literary spectrum. Riddles, puzzles, brain teasers and optical illusions. Playing tennis is a hobby. I also enjoy playing chess, keeping up to date with modern entertainment, cinema/film culture as well as technology.
Why did you want to work at Makomborero?
I believe as an intellectual the best place for iron to sharpen iron is with the whetstone of young minds. As I pass my experiences onto those I preceded I am a firm believer in understanding one’s personality (self) as a key aspect of individual growth and the sooner a person can access this line of thinking the better.
What wise words would you have for young people?
Learn yourself. It takes a lifetime and the sooner you can start this course going forward you can only always be better than you were yesterday.
Biltong or braaid meat?
Braaid meat
Winter or Summer?
Winter
Ice-cream or chocolate?
Chocolate
Once again we warmly welcome Farai to the Makomborero family. He brings with him knowledge, a passion for young people and an infectious fun and positive attitude!
