Makomborero A-Level Scholarships is now open.

The Makomborero A-Level Scholarships

Makomborero Zimbabwe seeks to identify suitable candidates capable of A-level entrance. In 2024 we will be offering A-level scholarships; 10 full scholarships to study at excellent Harare based private schools (Residential Scholarship) and 6 full scholarships to study at government day schools (Non Residential Scholarships). Thus provide the chosen students with the resources to achieve their educational goals where they may have fallen short through financial hardship and/or not having access to well-resourced A-level facilities in their current schools. As part of the scholarship scheme the students will be expected to assist with the ongoing community work that Makomborero Zimbabwe participates in.

Our partner schools are Hellenic Academy, St George’s College and Gateway High School.

The Residential Scholarship will include:

  • Weekly accommodation, meals and mentorship
  • Examination fees
  • School uniform requirements
  • All tuition fees and stationery

The Non Residential Scholarship will include:

  • Mentorship
  • Examination fees
  • Contribution to School uniform costs
  • All tuition fees and stationery
Scholarship Eligibility
  • The scholarship scheme is designed to recruit some of the most able O-Level students. Potential candidates must either already have attained (or be predicted) a number of A grades at O-level. Applicants writing their O-Levels in 2023 are able to apply.
  • The final selection process will be completed by January 2024 and will be before the actual O-level results have been published.
  • The selection process is multifaceted and can access a person’s raw and academic ability.
  • Makomborero Zimbabwe welcomes any application from government school students that feel he/she can clearly demonstrate the passion and potential to achieve top grades in their chosen A-level subjects.
Selection Process
  • All applications must be received by the date stated on the application forms. (October)
  • Each application will be carefully considered and an initial shortlist drawn up. (November)
  • Shortlisted candidates will be called for an interview and scholarship testing. (December and January)
  • The final selection process will be completed before the O-level results have been published, but in some cases we may wait for the results before informing the students who have been awarded scholarships.

Please leave your completed application form either with your Head Teacher or post to Makomborero Zimbabwe, P.O. Box MP753, Mt Pleasant, Harare or drop off at Mount Pleasant Fashions (a shop at Bond Street shops in Mt Pleasant along the Chase) or email to admin@makomborero.co.zw.

The Deadline for completed applications is Friday 27th October 2023. Once we have drawn up an initial short list we will contact you if you have been selected for interview/scholarship testing. If you do not hear from us by 12th January 2024 please assume your application has been unsuccessful.
